MEDIA ADVISORY: Secretary Rollins Hosts New World Screwworm Groundbreaking in Texas TODAY
(Washington, D.C., April 17, 2026) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins will visit South Texas on Friday, April 17th. In Edinburg, TX, Secretary Rollins, Texas Senator John Cornyn, Texas Representative Monica De La Cruz, and USDA Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) Dudley Hoskins will participate in the groundbreaking of USDA’s domestic sterile fly production facility.
WHAT: Secretary Rollins will participate in the groundbreaking of the USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) sterile fly production facility, a key piece of USDA’s efforts to protect the American livestock industry from the New World Screwworm. At the groundbreaking, Secretary Rollins will host a press conference.
