Dr. Dawn Mellion

Dr. Mellion is a distinguished professional with over 35 years of experience in agriculture. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Plant and Soil Science and Agricultural Education from Southern University, along with a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Extension Education from Iowa State University. Dr. Mellion's extensive career includes serving as vice-chancellor for Extension and Outreach at the Southern University Agricultural Center, where she led programming efforts to support Louisiana farmers. A skilled grant writer and manager, Dr. Mellion has secured over $10 million in competitive funds and managed approximately $25 million during her tenure. She is a recipient of prestigious awards, including the George Washington Carver Distinguished Service Award from Iowa State University and the Thomas M. Campbell Leadership Award from Tuskegee University.

Brielle Wright

Brielle Wright is a graduate of N.C. A&T State University with a Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness and a Master's degree from Virginia Tech in Agribusiness Management. Brielle brings a wealth of expertise to her role.With over 15 years of government, industry, non-profit, and educational employment, Brielle has a proven track record in project management, grants management, and program, planning, and development. As the founder of The Farmers Bag and board co-chair of the N.C. Black Farmers Market, she is a dedicated advocate for agriculture and community engagement.

Lacey Bibbins

With a background in early childhood education and finance, Lacey brings a unique skill set to her role, embodying the values of excellence and dedication within the NBGC community. As a resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Lacey serves as the anchor of the organization, providing essential support to ensure the smooth operation of NBGC. Her commitment to service, family, and her role as a wife and mother of four children shines through in her work at NBGC.

Elzadia Washington

Assistant Director

Elzadia Washington serves as the Associate Director responsible for overseeing Grants and Agreements at the National Black Growers Council (NBGC). She leads innovative initiatives like the Climate Smart Program and other USDA initiatives . With a distinguished career with the US State Department/ USAID spanning over three decades, Elzadia has served and lived in eight countries, including Namibia and the Philippines, where she directed significant programs addressing economic growth, health, conflict prevention, etc. As an Agricultural Economist, her expertise in managing multi-million dollar projects and fostering sustainable agricultural practices makes her a pivotal force in advancing the mission of NBGC and empowering black growers across the nation.

Odis Hill

Odis Hill is native of Bonita, La. 1981 graduate of Delta High School. Graduated from Southern University in 1986 with a B.S. in Agriculture Economics. He is married to Tammy Hill and they have two sons, Denim and O’Bryon. Odis is a respected leader, educator, and entrepreneur whose life’s work has been rooted in service and stewardship of the land. Odis worked at International paper Company for 18 years and 18 years as an Assistant County Agent for Southern University where he worked closely with farmers, families, and community members to promote agricultural education, sustainability, and economic growth. Now retired from Southern University, he continues to embody the values of leadership, integrity, and community service. His legacy is seen not only in the fields he has tended, but in the lives he has impacted through education, mentorship, and example.

Felecia Welch

Felecia Stanley is a Grants Manager and Administrator with the National Black Growers Council. A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she brings more than 25 years of administrative experience across the education, business, and legal sectors. Inspired by a lifelong love of gardening and a growing interest in food production during the pandemic, she is excited to support the organization’s mission to help farmers improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
